Description

The Cartref Hotel is a hotel featuring painted stucco cladding and slate roofs, built in two parallel ranges with red brick stacks at the left end. It has a three-storey front elevation with four windows, each fitted with 4-pane sash windows in eared surrounds. There is a decorative band above the first-floor window heads. The ground floor openings are not aligned; from the left, there is a triple sash window with a casing of pilasters and a cornice on brackets, a central 4-pane sash window that was formerly a door, and a smaller triple sash window on the right, both in eared surrounds.

The end wall facing Parc-y-shwt features two gables and is predominantly constructed of 19th-century brick. The end of the front range has 4-pane sash windows on each floor to the right. The rear elevation is three storeys high with three windows, finished in roughcast and featuring a 20th-century lean-to.

The range to the right, known as No 17, was rebuilt to match the height and size of No 15 since 1978, and while it shares similar details, it is largely of late 20th-century construction. The ground floor retains some of its original form and consists of three storeys with a four-window range, featuring two pairs of 4-pane sashes on the first and second floors, with the upper ones being smaller. There are bands above the ground and first floors. The ground floor includes two shopfronts: the left one has a recessed door to the left of a tripartite sash shop window, while the right shopfront is fully recessed with a half-glazed door situated between two large 4-pane sashes.
