Description
No 2 Rock Houses is a terraced house that forms a pair with No 1 Rock Houses. Both houses share a single design and feature a painted stuccoed street front that rises three storeys and includes a basement. The façade has two bays divided by three Ionic pilasters that extend from a band above the ground floor, supporting a heavily moulded entablature with a pulvinated frieze, cornice, and parapet. Each house has a one-window range and an inner doorway, with 12-pane hornless sash windows. The ground floor windows are not aligned with those on the upper floors.
There is a broad flight of three stone steps leading up to the paired central Ionic doorcases, which have recessed six-panel doors with overlights. Cast-iron boot scrapers are set into the stone. The basement has slate steps leading down, a four-paned horned sash window, and a half-glazed panelled door.
The area railings are similar to those found in front of Lexden Terrace, positioned to the left of the steps, with a gate to the left that provides access to the basement steps. The rear seaward side is slate-hung and features a parapet. It has three storeys and two bays overall, with two dormers, two two-storey canted bays, and two pairs of four-pane sashes on the upper floor.
