Description

No 5 Rock Houses, also known as Caldey View, is a terraced house dating from the 19th century. It features a painted stuccoed narrow facade that rises four storeys and consists of two bays topped with a parapet. The upper floor has nine-pane sash windows, while the other floors have twelve-pane windows, except for the ground floor which has a door located in the right bay. The entrance is slightly projecting and has a timber pedimented doorcase with an open pediment supported by two thin columns, and entablature blocks above. The ground floor door is a 20th-century eight-panel design, with six fielded panels added in 1977, and a blind fanlight above it.

To the left of the entrance, there are short area railings made of wrought iron with scroll designs. The forecourt is enclosed by a low wall made of grey limestone, with similar short railings situated between rendered piers topped with pyramid caps. An iron gate is located to the right, accompanied by a similar pier.

The rear of the house, which faces the sea, is also painted stucco and has a four-storey, two-bay design. The windows here include nine-pane sashes on the upper floor, twelve-pane windows on the second floor, twenty-four-pane windows on the first floor, and French windows with top lights on the ground floor. The parapet line at the rear is continuous with No 4 to the left.
