Description

1-2 Church Street consists of two houses, built with painted stucco or roughcast and topped with slate roofs. The house on the left, No 1, is two storeys high and is an annex to the three-storey No 2. No 2 features a close-eaved roof without chimneys and has a front with two windows, which are 4-pane sash windows, along with a ground floor shop. The shopfront, from the late 20th century, is set within a later 19th-century casing that includes three thin stucco pilasters. Two of these pilasters frame the left door, while the third is to the right of the right door, with a shop window positioned between the doors. The left end wall of No 2 is windowless and sits above No 1.

No 1, the two-storey house on the left, is finished in colourwashed roughcast and has a close-eaved roof with a small brick stack at the left end. On the first floor, there are two 4-pane sash windows that are offset to the right. The ground floor features a 4-pane fixed window to the left, which is not aligned, a half-glazed door to the left of centre, and a 12-pane shop window to the right, all of which are late 20th-century installations in existing openings. The left end wall has a tiny loft light.

The rear walls of both houses are roughcast and show significant undulation, indicating alterations. There is a small fixed light at the rear of No 1. The interiors of the ground floors are all from the late 20th century.
