Description

Nos 1 and 2 Gower Houses is a commercial building dating from the 19th century. It features painted stucco with a hipped slate roof that is set behind a parapet, along with brick end stacks. The structure stands four storeys high and has three bays, with a moulded cornice that includes modillions and quoins on the upper floors. The square-headed sash windows are set in moulded stucco cambered-headed surrounds, complete with keystones and small sill-brackets. The upper two storeys have six-pane sash windows (with square windows on the top floor), while the first floor has four-pane sash windows. There are 20th-century shop fronts on each side of the ground floor, each topped with a moulded cornice.
