Description
Brecknock House is a house and shop built with painted stucco and a slate roof, featuring four storeys and one bay. It is similar in style to the adjoining Clifton House. The building has a thin cornice and parapet, with 12-pane sash windows on the second and third floors, both positioned to the right. The first floor has a canted oriel window with 2-4-2-pane sashes and a moulded cornice. The late 20th-century shopfront has a traditional style, with fluted strips on each side, small-paned windows, and a recessed central door.
The rear of the building features a gable, suggesting earlier construction, which is slightly lower than the linked gable of Clifton House. It has four storeys above a railed terrace, with 16-pane sash windows on both upper floors and a French window with an overlight leading onto the terrace. The left side wall has two red brick chimneys.
Inside, the narrow shop has 20th-century stairs leading down to the basement, and access to the upper floors is provided by an exterior metal stair.
