Description

No 1 Lydstep Buildings is a house, part of a pair with No 2, dating from the 19th century. The building features a painted stucco ground floor and a roughcast first floor, topped with a close-eaved slate roof, which was cemented in 1977. A roughcast stack is built into the end wall on the right side. The house is two storeys high and has two bays. On the first floor, there is a hornless 12-pane sash window to the left and a canted oriel window to the right, which has 4-12-4-pane glazing, with the centre light fixed, and a moulded timber cornice with a hipped roof. The ground floor left has an arched doorway with a 20th-century door and a plain fanlight; the door was a 4-panel type in 1977. The building stands on a raised plinth.
