Description
The Old Post Office is a house built from rubble stone, featuring a slate eaves roof and later 19th century red and yellow brick end stacks, which have nogged brick under caps. The building is two storeys high and double fronted, with the front slightly offset to the right. It has twelve-pane hornless sash windows, which have painted brick heads and slate sills. The two upper windows are shorter than the two below, and the heads of the lower windows are cambered. There is an off-centre doorway with a painted brick head, leading to a recessed 20th century door and overlight. The right window on the ground floor has had its lower half replaced with a 2-pane sash. In front of the door are slate flagstones, while cobblestones are laid in front of the left-hand window. The left end of the building features a 20th century porch to the left, providing access to the back door. The gable verges are overhanging, with shaped purlin ends.
