Description

Darren Villa is a house that was formerly an inn, constructed from rubble stone with brick window and door heads. It features a slate roof and stone end stacks topped with slate caps and dripstones. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, each fitted with 12-pane horned sash windows and a central door. The brick voussoirs are painted in alternating colors, and there are slate sills beneath the windows. The door is a 20th-century recessed design with an overlight above it. The end walls are made of rubble stone and have overhanging verges with shaped purlin ends.

On the left end, there is a fixed 2-pane window on the first floor to the left and a single casement window on the ground floor to the right. To the right of the main building, there is a lower lofted outbuilding with a corrugated asbestos roof. This outbuilding is also made of rubble stone and has brick straight heads over the ground floor openings, which include a wide 4-panelled door to the right and a small single-pane fixed light to the left. External rubble stone steps lead up to a first-floor boarded door on the left, which is set under the eaves. The right end of the building has a small fixed window in the loft and a small window with brick sides on the ground floor to the right.

Inside, the front door opens into a corridor that features shoulder-height wooden panelling with a moulded cornice. The panelled wall curves to the left before reaching the foot of the stairs, which have newels with chamfered edges. An archway connects the corridor to the stairs. There is a 4-panelled door leading to the sitting room on the right, although other doors and fireplaces have been removed.
