Description
The former school by the Church of St Padarn is a small church schoolroom built in 1829 by Richard Rees of Llanbadarn for £33. Repairs were proposed in 1846. The building features unpainted cement render with a slate roof and rendered stacks, one at the west end and one on the ridge at the original east end. It is a single-storey, double-fronted structure with two small-paned sash windows, which were boarded over in 1995, and a central door with a plain Gothic arch. An additional one-window range was added to the east, which has one similar front window. The northwest rear wing is made of rubble stone and includes one broad full-height entry and one door with stone voussoirs. This building is included as a rare surviving example of the small church schools from the early 19th century in the region.
