Description
The coach house and stable at Glanpaith is a 19th-century structure built from coursed rubble stone, topped with slate gabled roofs. The building features a two-storey central coach house that projects forward, flanked by single-storey stable wings with hipped-ended slate roofs and terracotta ridge tiles. At the center of the coach house's ridge is an octagonal vent from the late 19th or early 20th century, which has sloping louvred sides, a leaded roof, and a metal weather-vane.
The central section has a carriage entry with a segmental arched head, adorned with stone voussoirs and fitted with boarded timber doors. Above this entry, there is a rectangular loft access with a boarded timber door and rough stone voussoirs. Each wing mirrors the other, featuring a 4-pane window, while the outer bays have boarded timber doors with narrow overlights, which are blocked in timber on the left side. All openings are framed with stone voussoirs and flat heads. On the eastern rear wall, there is a small boarded opening to the gabled center section, complete with a timber lintel. The forecourt in front of the building is partly cobbled and brick-paved.
