Description
Llain is an early 19th-century single-storey thatched cottage, marked on the 1843 Tithe Map. The building is constructed of whitewashed rubble stone and has a corrugated iron roof covering the thatch. It features a brick stack at the north end, which has replaced the original wicker round chimney. The cottage is double-fronted with two small 4-pane sash windows and a centrally located ledged door. There are lower outbuildings attached to each end; the north end has a door, while the south end contains a former carpenter's shop, which has one window to the left of the front wall and a door with a timber lintel in the south end wall. This well-preserved thatched cottage is now a rare example of vernacular architecture in the region.
