Description
Harford Fountain is a fountain made of grey Forest of Dean stone. It features a squat obelisk sitting on a large panelled pedestal base, with iron spigots on each side. These spigots are supported by wrought-iron cruciform structures and have brass fox-mask mouths. The obelisk displays a raised shield on each side; one side features the carved Harford Arms along with an inscription noting that the fountain was a gift from J S Harford of Peterwell. The rear of the obelisk has an inscription from St John 4, 13-14. In front of each face of the obelisk, there is a semi-circular basin, and the entire structure is mounted on a stone platform with corner blocks and two steps on each side.
