Description
A travel agent building, originally constructed in the later Georgian style, with Victorian alterations to No 6. It is a three-storey structure with two-window fronts made of scribed stucco and render, featuring moulded rusticated quoins at No 6. The building has slate roofs, bracket eaves, and brick chimney stacks. Small-pane sash windows are present at Nos 4 and 8, with architraves at No 4. No 6 boasts ornate architraves with keystones and bracketed sills, along with horned sash windows that lack glazing bars. The central panel on No 6 reads "Masonic Hall" with a square and compass symbol. The shop fronts at Nos 4 and 6 are of Victorian design; No 4 has plain pilasters flanking the shop window, with keeled colonnettes and a splayed entrance featuring a half-glazed door, while a modern door is located to the right. No 6 has unusual bracketed end pieces over faceted pilasters, a modern fascia, a six-panel door, and a four-light shop window with large Gothic colonnettes. No 8 has a modern shop front.
