Description
20 Marine Terrace is a three-storey building with a basement and attic, dating from the Victorian period. The building fronts are stuccoed and of varying widths, with a two-window arrangement to numbers 19 and 20, and a broader, three-window, double-fronted arrangement to number 18. Architectural details include end pilaster strips, a first-floor cill band, and a rusticated ground floor that is channelled at number 18. The roofs are slate, with modern slate to number 20. Bracketed eaves and cement-rendered chimney stacks are also present. Horned sash windows are a feature, along with pitched roof dormers with bargeboards. Bay windows flank the central entrance of number 18 and are situated to the left of the entrances of numbers 19 and 20. Cornices are present on the bay windows, and architraves feature on the other windows. Victorian half-glazed porches with ornate ironwork parapets are found at each entrance; number 18’s porch includes coloured glass. Number 18 has a half-glazed door, whilst numbers 19 and 20 have six-panel doors. These doors feature panelled reveals, and a traceried fanlight above the door at number 20. All entrances are accessed by steps with original interlace ironwork railings, and the basement windows feature mixed glazing.
