Description
This is a Grade II listed fountain made of cast iron. The fountain features a cylindrical stem that stands approximately 5 to 5.5 feet high, topped with a broad, fluted head and a fluted cap. It has a sinuous handle with a bulbous oval end on the left side, and a spout on the far side adorned with scroll ornamentation.
The fluted stem of the fountain is about 3 feet high and has a splayed top with regularly spaced openings that may be for tap handles around the rim. Below, there is an outlet pipe. A maker's plate on the fountain indicates it was produced by Glenfield and Kennedy Ltd. in Kilmarnock.
