Description

Rockview is a house and former shop built from whitewashed rubble stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring stone end stacks. The building has two storeys facing the road and three storeys at the rear. The north front has a four-window arrangement, with four 12-pane sash windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor to the left, all having painted slate sills and stone voussoirs. There is a door with an overlight and stone voussoirs in the second bay. The right half of the building has a shop front, which includes a renewed fixed 12-pane shop window on either side of a double door with an overlight, and an altered fascia-canopy.

To the left, there is a single-storey outbuilding with a left end stack, while the right end wall is windowless and features fretted bargeboards. The rear of the building also has four bays, with cambered-headed 12-pane sashes, except in the third bay. The top floor has three sashes, the middle floor has two, with the left one aligned between two windows above, and the fourth bay has one. The ground floor has two sashes in the second and fourth bays, a broad door in the first bay, and a narrower door to the left of the third bay. The third bay features two narrow 8-pane stair-lights between the floors. All windows have painted slate sills and stone voussoirs.

The interior has been much altered, but the ground floor at the rear has slate slabs. The staircase is original, though there are new doors and fittings throughout.
