Description
Derwydd is a mid to later 19th century house built from coursed Cilgerran stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring corniced cut-stone stacks at the ends. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range and a slightly advanced center that has an open pedimental gable. The windows are adorned with painted stone hoodmoulds, with those on the main floors linked together, and slate sills. The attic features a 6-pane window at the center, while the main floors have 12-pane hornless sash windows. The center of the front has a recessed 6-panel door with a traceried overlight. The west end is stuccoed and includes a basement door, a 12-pane window on the ground floor, and a loft light. The east end is made of stone and also has a loft light. At the rear, there is a center wing with a cut-stone stack on the north end, a painted brick addition on the east side, and a lean-to with two gables over a door that has an overlight and a plate glass sash, supported by timber lintels. The house is situated on a terrace that overlooks Llechryd Bridge and is not marked on the 1840 Tithe Map.
