Description
The barn at Penlan Fach is a long barn and lofted stable, constructed with the lower part of the walls made from rubble stone up to just above the stable door lintel level, while the upper part is made of cob or clom, which was formerly whitewashed. The barn features a slate roof, with gable ends covered in corrugated iron.
On the front, there are full height double doors with a timber lintel located to the center left, and a small 4-pane window with a timber lintel to the left. To the right, there are three doors with timber lintels, two of which are stable doors and the third is a boarded door. Additionally, there are single windows on the right end and at the rear of the building.
Inside, the walls are whitewashed, and the roof consists of eight bays supported by oak pegged collar trusses, while the rest of the roof was added in the 20th century. There is a large oak beam at half wall height towards either end of the barn, and most of the interior is divided into stables.
