Description
No. 19 Pencae is a terraced house dating from the 19th century. It is two storeys tall and double-fronted, featuring a slate gabled roof with end stacks. The house has a slightly projecting rubble stone chimney on the left and a large rendered chimney on the right, which it shares with No. 20. The front elevation is made of limewashed rubble stone and includes cambered window heads with brick voussoirs on the ground floor. All the windows are hornless sashes, with square 12-pane sashes on the first floor and longer 16-pane sashes on the ground floor. The central entrance features a board door with a plain rectangular overlight.
On the left-hand return, above No. 18, the wall is made of rubble stone and has horizontal roofing-slate steps that follow the roof line. The front garden is lower than the road level and is enclosed by a rubble stone wall with slate coping, which has been partly replaced. The wall features slate uprights for the central gate, along with matching wrought iron railings and a gate that has alternating tall and short uprights topped with inverted V-finials. There are slate steps leading down into the garden.
