Description

13 New Street is a complete terrace that includes a former single-storey bank and extends to the corner with Castle Street. The building dates from the late Georgian period and has undergone some Victorian alterations. It is two storeys high with a two-window layout, featuring scribed stucco, render, and roughcast fronts. The roofs are slate, with wide bracket eaves and chimney stacks made of rubble and brick, some of which are cement rendered.

The terrace includes sash windows, with small pane glazing retained in both first-floor windows of No 3 and in the left-hand first-floor windows of Nos 7 and 13. Most other windows have horned sashes. Notable architectural features include an oriel window to the right of No 5 and two-storey bay windows at Nos 7 and 13, which mostly have panelled aprons. No 3 has keystoned architraves, while Nos 9 and 13 feature plain architraves. No 9 has Tudor labels on the ground floor, and segmental labels above the central entrances of Nos 11 and 13. Other entrances are offset to the left, next to an altered shop front at No 3, with twin tripartite windows at No 5 and additional windows at the centres of Nos 7 and 9. The doors are half glazed and panelled, and there are some small pane basement windows.

The left end wall facing Castle Street is roughcast and includes sash windows.
