Description
61 Walter Road is a terrace of five three-storey houses built around 1865. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a channelled design on the ground floor, and feature horned sash glazing, although the bay window of No 61 has been replaced. The roofs are slate, hipped to the left, but at Nos 62 and 63, the slate has been replaced with tiles. There are brick chimneys, although one has been lost between Nos 62 and 63. Each house is two windows wide, with a two-storey splayed bay window on the right side, featuring volutes at the angles and wrought-iron rails with trefoils and pinnacles, although these have been lost at Nos 64 and 65. To the left, there is an open porch, which has been lost at No 65, adorned with classicising pillars and a dentil cornice. Above the porch, there is a blind window, but No 62 has a sash-glazed window in its place, framed with a moulded surround and pediment. On the top floor, there are two sash windows with moulded surrounds. The left return of the terrace (No 61) has a basement made of brown rubble; the block at the front has two windows, with the left window featuring stained glass, and to the right, there is a second-floor sash window, a first-floor oriel with iron cresting, and a ground-floor blind window. The basement has a sash window to the right and paired windows to the right. The lower block to the left (rear) has two sash windows on each floor, with the top-floor windows offset to the left, along with a basement doorway and sash window.
