Description
The Old Bank House is a late Georgian building featuring three storeys and an attic, with a three-window painted roughcast front. The ground floor is rusticated and has a cill band. It has a slate roof with boxed bracket eaves and a brick chimney stack, along with pitched roof dormers, one of which has a sash window. The small pane sash windows on the first and second floors have margins.
A notable feature is the fine paired classical doorcase, which is offset to the right and includes a bracket cornice, an entablature frieze, and fluted pilasters. The entrance has six-panel doors and traceried fanlights.
Additionally, there is an iron emblem above the cill band that is associated with the Black Sheep Bank, which was located elsewhere on Bridge Street, but was mistakenly placed on this building.
