Description
The Gardener's Cottage at Gwernyfed High School, located in Gwernyfed Park, is a two-storey building constructed from grey sandstone rubble with limestone dressings and a tiled roof. It features a 'Z'-plan layout, which includes a wing on the right side of both the front and back elevations. An open arched porch with sidelights is situated under a low hipped roof in the re-entrant angle on the east side, while a staircase is located under a continuation of the main roof in the equivalent angle on the west side. The east-facing wing has a two-storey square bay with stone mullioned windows, which are transomed on the ground floor, and the roof is hipped. The cottage also has brick stacks.
Attached to the east front is the 3-meter high southwest wall of the kitchen garden, which features brick offset courses and a tiled coping.
