Description
Pont Llanerch Emrys is a bridge of high segmental form, spanning approximately 18 meters. It is built from uncoursed common masonry, featuring rusticated, even-height voussoirs. A prominent keystone hangs from a string course at the base of the parapet, which is similar on both sides.
The carriageway of the bridge is about 6 meters wide, flanked by narrow two-course scappled sandstone parapets that turn out at all four ends to small stone piers. Parts of the parapets have bronze coping cramps. An unusual feature of the bridge is that many of the stones in the parapets are numbered sequentially with Roman numerals, indicating that the parapets were constructed from the apex of the bridge outwards.
