Description
The barn at Upper Rectory Farm is a Grade II listed building, constructed with weatherboarding over timber framing on a brick plinth, topped with an old slate roof. The right-hand bay is marked externally by a straight joint in the weatherboarding and previously featured lath and plaster panel-infill. It has a single door for access. The remaining sections are divided into three parts, each with a plank doorway and a window beside it. There are two shuttered loft openings located below the eaves. A small rear wing is also present, constructed from timber framing with brick nogging, and has a slate roof with a brick stack.
The barn is structurally divided into five bays, with two framed partitions separating the two right-hand bays. The interior is floored throughout, featuring rough axial beams that support joists in all areas except the left-hand bay, where the joists run axially. There are rough timber stalls in the two right-hand bays.
