Description

The Grange, also known as The Old Rectory, is a building constructed of brickwork that has been painted, with the southwest end rendered. It features a slate roof and consists of three storeys and a cellar, arranged in three bays. The layout includes a central through stair hall, gable stacks, and a two-storey mid-19th century extension at right angles to the rear. Additionally, there is a small single-storey flat-roofed service wing added to the northeast gable.

The central entrance has a four-panelled door set within a 19th-century wrought iron scrollwork porch topped with a slate hipped roof. The windows are sixteen-paned sash windows set in reveals, each with rubbed brick flat arches above. There are also six-paned windows at the attic level, likely from the 19th century, when the top floor was altered and brick dentilled eaves were added. French doors are located at the rear of the southwest bay.

The interior is primarily from the mid-19th century. The through hallway leads to the main reception room on the right, with a narrow rear bay that has an arched opening to the drawing room. The dog-leg stair features a plain balustrade. There is a painted slate fireplace from around 1880 in the former study, which has been opened into the hall. The northeast wing contains service rooms.
