Description
Llanoddian Hall is a two-bay building with a central stair hall and a double-pile plan, featuring two floors, an attic, and a cellar. It is constructed from locally hand-made brick and has a slate roof, with a pebble-dashed finish on the northeast end. There is a plat band between the ground and first floors, as well as above the first-floor windows, possibly indicating the eaves line. The central entrance has a 19th-century timber doorcase with a panelled door and overlight, sheltered by a bracketed canopy. The windows are wide, flush-framed, margin-glazed 19th-century four-panelled sashes, adorned with zig-zag moulding that simulates blinds, all set within cambered-headed openings. A wide part-external stack is located at the southeast end, and there is a lean-to service range at the back. The building also features two gabled late 19th-century dormers with replaced windows.
Inside, the narrow stair hall contains a stair in the rear half. The four main reception rooms boast heavy chamfered beams arranged diagonally. In the rear room on the southeast side, the fire lintel displays an incuse hollow-sided diamond pattern. The building contains much re-used early to mid-17th-century panelling, some of which is particularly elaborate, found in the southwest room on the ground floor and in two upper-floor bedrooms, reportedly sourced from the church. At the rear of the attic rooms, there are two blocked oval stone windows, one on each side. The roof is constructed with re-used timber, including a girding beam from a framed house. Additionally, the rear service outshut features a free-standing brick-built bread oven.
