Description

The Schoolhouse is a former schoolroom built in the 19th century. It is a single-storey structure made of coursed rubble with a slate roof featuring a crested ridge. The front east elevation has a central flush lateral stack made of stone, which has tall raking offsets and dressed quoins, rising through the eaves and featuring a tall cusped ogee-headed window inset. There are two main windows, each with three lights, surrounded by chamfered dressed stone and mullions, with some surviving diamond leaded panes. To the extreme right is a doorway with a chamfered dressed stone surround, leading to a modern glazed door.

The north gable has two tall cusped ogee-headed windows with diamond leaded panes, along with a cusped quatrefoil window above. There is a small single-storey extension made of rubble and slate at the southeast corner, which includes a brick cambered head window and brick dressings.

Adjoining the northwest corner of the schoolroom is the schoolhouse, a two-storey range with a hipped crosswing at the west end. This section is also constructed of coursed rubble and has a slate roof, featuring a single stone lateral stack in the wing with a brick upper. A timber porch with decorative bracing sits on a stone plinth at the corner of the main range and the wing, topped with a lean-to roof. Throughout the building, there are dressed stone chamfered mullion windows, all fitted with modern glazing.
