Description
Cwmilward is a two-storey building with a rear outshut under a catslide roof, constructed from coursed rubble blocks and topped with a slate roof. It features a large stone chimney stack offset to the west gable, which has an adjoining bread oven, along with a small brick stack at the front right and a small stone stack at the rear outshut. The front of the building is symmetrical, with four windows flanking a central door, all adorned with flat stone voussoir arches and modern casement windows. There is a recess for a date stone, which is now missing.
On the east gable end, there is a lean-to outbuilding with a stone rubble plinth, a weatherboarded frame, and a tin roof.
At the rear of the house, there is a random arrangement of farm buildings, all weatherboarded, with timber frames over stone rubble plinths and iron roofs. This includes a combination barn that features lambing and shearing bays, a wool loft, an adjoining stable, and a cowshed with a hay loft. There is also a hay barn positioned at right angles and a detached small granary.
Inside, the ground floor consists of one main room that has heavy squared beams and squared joists, along with a large open fireplace. Elm newel stairs rise from a smaller end room. The building has open tie beam trusses that are rough sawn.
