Description
Little Trewern Farmhouse is a two-storey building with a single-storey section at the rear that has a catslide roof. The structure is made of rubble stone and topped with a slate roof, featuring two large rubble end stacks and boxed eaves. The windows are arranged regularly, with a central boarded door. The first-floor windows and the lower left window are set under voussoir lintels, while the lower right window and door have been fitted with renewed lintels. Most windows are three-light timber casements, except for the lower left which has a small-paned iron-frame window, and there are two gable end attic windows and rear dairy windows that have plain, heavy timber frames in squared openings.
Adjoining the north end of the house is an outbuilding that consists of cowhouses built at the same time as the farmhouse. This outbuilding is also made of rubble stone and has a tin roof, with a loft dormer at the centre front and four boarded doors. Inside, there are pegged timber stud partitions and rough pole loft flooring.
The interior features a central stair hall with rooms on either side. The right-hand room has been subdivided at one time and includes a blocked fireplace. The left-hand room boasts a large open fireplace, which has been partially reduced, along with a timber mantel shelf and a spit rack. The space has a plain squared axial beam and exposed joists, with an original suspended bacon cratch. The floors are made of flagstone, and the elm stairs have plain stick balusters. The walls are constructed with stud partitions.
