Description

The former school and school master's house is a single-storey school room oriented north-south, with a two-storey domestic range set at right angles to the west and slightly set back. It is built from large blocks of random grey stone with sandstone dressings, topped with slate roofs. Architectural details include raised copings and kneelers at the gables, as well as flat-headed stone-mullioned windows. The north gable end of the school room features a large four-light window with a transom under a relieving arch. To the left, there is a lean-to porch on the east side, which has an entrance on the north with a chamfered Tudor-arched doorway and a planked door.

On the east side of the school room, there is a central projecting stack, which is now truncated, flanked by multi-pane four-light windows just below the eaves. At the left end, there is a small single-storey range with a mono-pitched roof, featuring a boarded door on the north side and small lights on the east end and south side, the latter set in a concrete surround. Adjoining to the south is a large flat-roofed addition that abuts the south gable end of the school room, with a window above it that has a relieving arch. The roof of the school room slopes down towards the west over another flat-roofed stone extension against the master's house, which is likely older than the southeast addition. This extension has a planked door on the south side and a late 20th-century window on the west.

The north side of the house is set back from the school room and features a tall stone ridge stack at the center. To the left, there are three-light windows on each storey, while to the right, there is a four-light mullioned bay window with a hipped roof. The west gable end of the house includes a late 20th-century blockwork lean-to porch offset to the right, with a planked door on the north side and a small light on the west. There are also two late 20th-century windows in stone surrounds on the upper storey, along with a lateral stone stack to the south.

Inside the school room, the original boarded ceiling and wainscot are still preserved.
