Description
The Long Barn and attached Byre Range at Old Impton Farm likely date from the 18th century and are two storeys high, with a tractor shed attached at the northwest end, which has undergone later alterations. The long barn features mostly weatherboarding, with rubble footings and lower gable ends, topped with corrugated iron roofs. It has vertically-boarded loft doors and ground floor openings, including full-height threshing doors facing the farmyard. Inside, there are tie-beam trusses with angled braces, some sections having post and panel infill while others are boarded.
The byre range is positioned at right angles to the barn, featuring a rubble gable end to the southeast, with ground floor ventilation slits, weatherboarding, regular doors, and loft openings facing the yard. The gable of the tractor shed is also weatherboarded.
Later additions to the west of the site are not of special interest.
