Description
Norton Manor House is a large Jacobethan house dating from 1858, with an unknown architect. The building features a symmetrical entrance front facing northeast, with an advanced center and gabled bays. It has two storeys and an attic, constructed of free stone with ashlar dressings, and topped with slate roofs. The house has tall chimneys with diagonal stems, some of which have been removed, and gable parapets with finials. The front has five windows, each with rectangular dripmoulds, mullions, and transoms, featuring small-pane glazing. The central doorway has a four-centred arch under a hood mould, although the opening is now glazed. To the right, there is a lower L-shaped range. The garden front also has five windows, with end gables that are slightly advanced. At the rear, there is a tall three-storey block with elaborate Tudor chimneys and finials at the parapet level, stone mullioned windows with lying pane glazing, and two ground floor bays, along with a lean-to extension to the left. The center of the house features a high hipped roof over a colossal top-lit stairwell.
