Description
Wayside is a two-storey brick building with slate roofs, featuring gable end stacks that have stone copings and blue brick bands. The building is symmetrically planned with a central three-window range and slightly recessed flanking gabled wings, the southwest wing being separately occupied as Wayside. The central gabled bay is advanced and includes an entrance in a triple arched timber porch. The inner doorway has been renewed but still features an overlight with marginal glazing and some coloured glass.
Flanking the entrance are three-light windows, with a two-light window above the doorway and a similar attic window that has a blue and red brick arched head. Each outer gabled wing also contains two-light windows on each floor. All windows are small-paned iron casements with transoms and 'gothick' glazing bars in the upper lights. The windows in the central range have segmentally arched heads, as do the lower windows in the flanking wings. The upper windows in the wings feature alternate red and blue brick segmental arches, and the kneelers of their dormer gables are made of blue brick and stone, with similar corbels on the central gable.
