Description
The former canal warehouse is a two-storey building raised over a basement, constructed from rough random rubble with brick dressings and a slate roof featuring brick end wall stacks. It has a three-window range with a central boarded and panelled door that is accessed by steps leading up to a terrace, which marks the rear ground level of the canal wharf and is enclosed by cast-iron rails. The flanking windows, dating from the conversion to a house around 1850, are two-light casements with margin-lights, and all lower openings have single-ring cambered brick heads. The upper windows are similar in style. A dentilled eaves band adds detail to the roofline.
To the right of the main house is a lower building made of painted brick, which served as the original dwelling and weighbridge office. This original dwelling is located at the upper level and is partly built over a continuation of the terrace wall in front of the former warehouse. The building has a two-unit plan with a central chimney. Below, there is a small office with a doorway to the right and a two-light metal casement window with a cambered head.
