Description
34 and 35 Mount Street are likely to have been built as a single house in the 17th century and were later divided. Until recently, they operated as a farm.
The exterior features render over timber framing, which is exposed in the west gable, showcasing square panelled box framing. The front wall appears to have been partially rebuilt in brick, with a plat band visible on No 34. The buildings have a slate roof with end wall and axial brick stacks. No 34 has a doorway to the right, with renewed casement windows aligned on each floor beside it. No 35 features a central doorway with an architrave and an entablature hood, along with small-paned casement windows on either side. The upper windows below the eaves are metal casements.
These buildings are of special architectural interest as a remodelled early vernacular house and hold particular historical significance as a small farm holding within the town.
