Description
Dolanog Cottages are likely from the late 17th century to early 18th century. They were originally single storeyed but were raised in height, probably in the early 19th century.
The exterior features a box frame with square panels made of thin timbers and painted brick paneling. An exposed raking queen strut truss is visible in the gable end, and the current roofline reflects the building's height increase with brick. The roof is covered with slate and has an axial chimney. To the left, there is a doorway set in a thin gabled timber porch, along with three blocked windows and a gabled dormer in the roof. An adjacent lower outbuilding has an axial stack.
This building is notable as a small vernacular cottage that was originally single storeyed, representing a dwelling scale that is rare in the immediate area of the town.
