Description
The Farm Building Range at the Firs is a 19th-century structure built of dolerite with a brick elevation on the west side facing the farmyard, topped with a slate roof. This long, seven-bay building serves multiple purposes, including a cow house, barn, and pigeon loft. The southern three bays and the northern bay are floored, with the northern bay accessible via external brick steps. The eastern double cart entrance has been reduced to a single door made of brick. The pigeon loft, located in bays two and three from the north, features three tiers of twelve nest boxes with perching ledges. The brick front facing the farmyard includes two tiers of cruciform vents, along with small square vents in the stonework of the rear. There are three boarded doors leading to the farmyard and various other openings. Inside, queen post trusses support a collar that is notched for a single tier of purlins.
