Description
46 Market Street is a two-storey building with a basement and attic, dating from the early 19th century. The front is made of whitewashed coursed rubble and features a slate roof with boxed eaves and brick end stacks, as well as two skylights. On the first floor, there are two 12-pane double hung sash windows beneath cambered brick heads, which have thin glazing bars. The building has an advanced double shop front that includes a projecting cornice and a plain fascia with slender glazing bars. The entrance is splayed at the center, featuring two panelled doors set at an angle with rectangular fanlights above. There is also a basement entrance located below the left bay. The right gable end is constructed of rubble, while the left has roughcast with projecting plain bargeboards. The side elevations have metal-frame casements, and there is a projecting chimney stack on the left.
