Description
Wern-Fawr Farmhouse is a two-storey and attic rubble stone farmhouse, likely dating from the late 17th century, with a slate roof. There is a later lean-to extension on the north-west side that has been recently modernised. The farmhouse features tall rubble stacks that project from the east end and the rear north wall. The windows are arranged randomly and consist of small-paned timber casements, most of which are modern replacements. However, the rear wall retains the remains of three 17th-century ovolo-moulded mullion windows with hood moulds.
Inside, the farmhouse boasts a remarkably fine interior that includes a complete set of original ornate door heads and chamfered door frames, original wide stud wall partitions, boarded doors, and chamfered and stopped beams. In the left-hand parlour, there is an open fireplace with ovolo mouldings on the jambs and a timber lintel. The oak dog-leg stairs feature chamfered and scroll-stopped newels.
