Description
Upper Cwmgwanon Farmhouse is a 16th or 17th century, one-and-a-half storey farmhouse built from whitewashed rubble stone and topped with a stone tile roof. It features three gabled eaves dormers, a central rubble ridge stack, and a projecting stack at the right end, both of which have brick tops. The farmhouse has modern casement windows and doors, with the exception of one surviving 17th century ovolo moulded mullion window located at the right end. There are also remnants of stone hood moulds above the openings on the right side.
Inside, the farmhouse includes substantial timber-framed partitions and roof trusses. The left end showcases exposed chamfered and broach-stopped beams, along with a large central fireplace that has a massive timber lintel, although the opening is blocked. The right end features scroll stopped beams and a fireplace with an ovolo moulded timber lintel.
