Description
3 Smithfield Street is a 2-window building, likely the manager's house, with a 1-window section for the remainder, creating reflected pairs. The exterior is roughcast with a painted plinth. It features a renewed slate roof and brick chimney stacks, which are mostly rendered, along with wide boarded eaves. The building retains some small pane sash windows, with 9 and 12 panes throughout Nos 3 and 5. There are later half-glazed doors and two small windows at the left end, which once had a weaving loft door to the gable. The rear has modern windows, and No 3 is shallower than the others. A high revetment wall is located beyond, against the former castle mound.
