Description
Turner's Hair Fashions is a two-storey building featuring a red brick front with a total of eight windows, four on each floor. The brickwork includes stock brick dressings, such as cornice window surrounds and implied quoins, along with a stone plinth. The slate roof has a central stock brick chimney stack with twin circular flues and a dentilled neck band. The casement windows, which have glazing bars that form central diamond panels, are set within chamfered reveals. The first-floor windows consist of one and two lights, symmetrically placed relative to No 20 and alternately placed relative to No 22. Both properties have entrances on the right, featuring Tudor hoodmoulds and half-glazed doors that match the windows. The left-hand ground floor windows also have similar hoodmoulds, with the one for No 20 being larger and echoing the mullion and transom design of the central windows of No 22. The shop front at No 20 has a modern architrave in the centre. The rear of the building has been largely modernised, but there is evidence of a timber frame at the centre.
Inside No 22, the interior retains massive stop-chamfered beams and a lowered timber lintel above the fireplace.
