Description

Talachddu House, a former rectory, is built from coursed squared stone with white lime joints, topped with a concrete tile roof and featuring stone end stacks. The building stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range, highlighted by a central pedimental gable and string courses. The top floor includes outer 9-pane sash windows under the eaves and a central arched sash window that extends into the gable, adorned with radiating bars and stone voussoirs. A sill course runs along this level. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows, also with stone voussoirs. The ground floor features three early 20th-century canted bays arranged in a 1-3-1 light configuration, with small-paned glazing comprising casements and top-lights. A door is positioned between the centre and right windows, with a continuous slate roof that is hipped at the ends. The right end wall is roughcast.

To the left, there is a later 20th-century two-storey, one-bay roughcast addition, which includes a 12-pane sash window above the door and a triple casement window. The rear of the building is roughcast and was altered in the earlier 20th century, featuring an added one-storey and attic rear gabled projection.

Adjacent to the house is a single-storey outbuilding constructed from painted rubble stone. This outbuilding has a door on the left, followed by a triple casement window with stone voussoirs, and a large opening with a 20th-century rendered head. There is a straight joint leading to an added eastern end that has a door at the front. The eastern gable of the outbuilding features cambered-headed openings on each floor, with stone voussoirs, a boarded door above, and a pair of casement windows below.

The interior of Talachddu House has not been inspected.
