Description
The Old Farmhouse at Wernddyfwg is a former farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century. It features a roughcast exterior with an imitation slate roof and roughcast end stacks, with the left stack having a large external chimney breast and the right stack being smaller. The building is two storeys high and consists of two bays that are significantly offset to the left. It has 20th-century metal windows, with two upper windows and a door below. The door is set within a 20th-century boarded gabled porch. The right end wall is made of rubble stone.
To the left is a roughcast building from the 17th century, topped with a corrugated iron roof, and it has a 20th-century metal window and door. This section also has a rubble stone end wall featuring a loft door with a hoodmould. The rear of the farmhouse is constructed of rubble stone and includes a single-storey range that is positioned at right angles to the left. There are remnants of colourwashed render on the rear, which has a square 12-pane window with an oak lintel and dripstone on the right, and a rectangular 6-pane window with an oak lintel and stone hoodmould to the left, in the angle of the single-storey range.
The rubble stone at the back of the house shows traces of colourwash and has small 9-pane hopper windows with timber lintels, with two on each floor and stone dripstones over the ground floor lintels. The interior has not been inspected, but in 1965, the former hall featured a post and panel partition with doors at each end, both having shaped heads. There was also a staircase to the left of the large fireplace, which had flat shaped balusters at the stair head.
