Description
Talwern Fawr is a house that features whitewashed roughcast walls and a renewed slate roof that overhangs at the eaves, with rendered end stacks, the one on the left being larger. The building is two stories high and has a three-bay front. The center door is set within a lean-to 20th-century porch and is flanked by 4-pane horned sash windows. On the first floor, there are two horned 12-pane sashes and one metal casement window to the left. At the rear, there is a wing added around 1900, which includes an end chimney.
The interior has been significantly modernized, with new partition walls and stairs. The left room contains two impressive 16th-century beams that feature close-set reed mouldings. The main beam has seven rolls, with three on each angled side and one along the bottom, plus a thin hollow upper moulding. The beam above the fireplace is halved and has three rolls. The fireplace itself features a large chamfered timber lintel, with the lower edge stepped up irregularly. In the right room, there is a recess in the east wall with an oak lintel, which was a former window. There are deep chamfered beams over the entrance partition and the fireplace. A narrow pantry, partitioned to the rear, has a 20th-century door leading into the garage.
