Description
This milestone, erected by a Montgomeryshire Turnpike Trust, dates from the later 18th century and is located on the road from Llanfair Caereinion to Welshpool. It is made of sandstone and features slightly tapering sides with a rounded top, which is damaged. The milestone is inscribed with well-cut, elegant lettering that reads: "To / POOL / 6 / Mile / Llnfair / 1." It is included as a notable example of an inscribed milestone from the early period of turnpiking on this road.
