Part of L-Plan Ranges of Barns to N of Downton House

The building consists of part of L-plan ranges of barns located to the north of Downton House. The north range barn dates from the mid-18th century and features three bays, including a central threshing bay and an additional lofted cowhouse bay to the west. It has a rubble and brick plinth, stud walls, and a weatherboard skin, topped with an iron roof. Inside, there are tie-beam trusses supported by two pairs of raking braces, and the bay partitions are characterized by high plinths made of 18th-century brickwork. The eaves height includes double doors. The adjoining cowhouse range has been reduced in height.

The east range barn is possibly from the 17th century and consists of five bays, including a threshing bay. It also has a rubble and brick plinth, a weatherboarded skin, an iron roof, and features some square panel timber-framing.
