Description
The barn at Park Farm is a Grade II listed structure featuring a combination of brick and weatherboarding with a slate roof, along with a new entry at the south gable end.
Inside, there are four pairs of heavy cruck blades arranged in matching pairs, which are erected from the northern end on timber sills and are trenched for two tiers of purlins. Each pair includes a low tie beam and framing to the collar, with raking struts positioned near the apex. Notably, the third couple appears to have had large curving struts connecting the tie to the upper section of the blades. The apex is joined by a yoke that is set slightly lower and carries a ridge piece that is set diagonally. There are mortices on the shoulders for a timber horizontal rail of the original wall, and the inset apex may have served as a smoke louvre. Additionally, there is a 'dais' partition that is square framed and features a single door.
